Spring Gem, MIneral and Jewelry Show

Family fun and exciting finds in Stones! The Northwest Arkansas. Gem & Mineral Society is hosting its annual fund-raiser, the Spring Gem Show, located at the Northwest Arkansas Armed Forces Reserve Center (the Armory) in Bentonville on Saturday, April 18 from 9 am - 5 pm, and on Sunday, April 19, from 10 am - 4 pm. There will be 20 vendors with rocks of every kind; gemstones, minerals, fossils, crystals, cut cabochons, geodes, beads, and jewelry. Special this year: a Rock ID table where guests can bring their favorite rock, or piece of jewelry with an unknown stone, and our experts will help you identify the stone. (This is not an appraisal, only identification.) Also demonstrating will be a live arrowhead maker, just like the old timers made them. There will be faceting, making a stone into a sparkling gem. There will be a geode cracker, finding what is inside a rock that has never been seen before. And for more fun, how about finding your own gemstones at our gem sluice trailer! Members will be demonstrating lapidary equipment, jewelry making, and holding our Silent Auction where you can bid on a wide variety of rocks and minerals. Don't forget our Hourly Door Prize. In case you get the hungries, there will be a local food truck, "Daisy and Delois Cajun Cookery" with delicious Louisiana-style food and good-ol' American standards. The Armory is located at 6800 SW Minuteman Ave., just off Highway 12, north of the National Airport. We are inside, and open rain or shine! Entry donation is $5.00, with children under 10 free with an adult. Free parking, and fun and educational for everyone. NSAGMS is a non-profit group dedicated to promoting the earth sciences.
